Consider a woman in Figtree whose husband is beginning to need more help around the house and getting to appointments. His Support at Home funding has been approved, but after years in the same community they don't want a faceless service — they want someone from the Illawarra who understands the area, from the escarpment suburbs down to the coast, and who will actually be the same person each week.

This example is illustrative, created to show how the local partner model works in practice.

Support at Home is a national program, so Illawarra families can access it — and the local partner model is designed to keep that care genuinely local and consistent.

Self-managed Support at Home on the South Coast

Support at Home replaced Home Care Packages on 1 November 2025. Self-managing it means you choose who supports you and how your budget is spent. Partner with Care is the registered provider that makes the funding work — claiming, compliance and clinical governance sit with us — while a local Illawarra partner delivers the day-to-day support.

Areas we cover across the Illawarra

We're building our local partner network across Wollongong and the wider Illawarra — the city and northern suburbs like Corrimal and Figtree, down through Port Kembla and Dapto, and south to Shellharbour and Kiama, along with the southern edge of Sydney. As a newer service area, coverage in your exact suburb is worth a quick call.

Continuity, not a roster: because you choose your own worker under self-managed Support at Home, it's far easier to keep the same familiar face each visit rather than whoever happens to be on shift.

What you can arrange

Your Support at Home budget can fund personal care, everyday help such as cleaning, meals and transport, and clinical supports like nursing and allied health. You keep the choice of worker and control of your routine. See what your budget covers and choosing your own support workers.

Getting started in the Illawarra

If Support at Home funding is already approved, we can talk about matching local support. If you're still working through My Aged Care, we can help you understand the next steps. Care, nursing and allied health businesses across the Illawarra can also become a local partner and deliver Support at Home under our registered framework.
